Welcome to our cosy Historical North Cottage nestled in the heart of Old Deer, Aberdeenshire. Perfectly positioned for both explorations and tranquil respites, this is a fusion of historic allure and country peace.
Step outside and immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Aberdeenshire’s surroundings. Wander through Aden Country Park which is on the doorstep, or the nearby stone circle. Discover hidden gems in many nearby walks. The ruined Deer Abbey which featured in the BBC documentary about the Book of Deer is only minutes away or relax at one of the many nearby beaches.
We are dog friendly (house rules apply) so feel free to explore the countryside with your favourite companions.
For history enthusiasts, the Cottage was built in 1751 as the Factor’s House to the nearby Mansion at Aden Park owned by the Russell Family. The street we are in was even renamed Russell Street after them. Offering a serene escape for quiet contemplation, you can still walk round the ruins of the Mansion House just a short walk away. Meanwhile, the adjacent building (private ownership) became the Dowarger house for the same family with its later addition in 1851.
With convenient access to shops in Mintlaw a couple of miles away, theres something for everyone in Aberdeenshire, as venturing beyond Old Deer is a breeze. Whether you’re drawn to the idyllic countryside or yearn to relax in your getaway, the possibilities are endless.
After a day of adventures, return to our thoughtfully appointed space, with a conservatory to sit and relax. Modern comforts blend seamlessly with charming character. Relax in the cosy living area, whip up a culinary masterpiece in the fully equipped kitchen, or retire to the bedroom for a restful night’s sleep.
Join us for an unforgettable stay in the heart of Old Deer – where history and culture converge to create an enchanting experience you won’t soon forget
